Hyacinth Macaws

The Hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus) is the largest of all parrots. They average in about 40 inches in length and weighting 2 and 1/2 when they reach adulthood. They are known as gentle giants like the greenwings. of all of the macaws. They love to play and interact with their owners. Great with children, but do not leave them unsupervised.

Cage requirements are 42x42x72 inches. Stainless steel cages would properly be the best for them because of their destructive behavior.

Diet-consist of nuts, seeds, plenty of fruit and veggies. Hyacinth Macaw needs more nuts because of their need of higher fats that they require.

Things to consider before buying one of these macaws.

1. How much time can you devote to him/her.
2. Will I have the room for cage.
3. Owning a Hyacinth can be expense with their vet care, proper food, toys, etc.
4. Finding a good AVIAN VET in your area.
